Product Evaluation: Field trials with rodenticides

Field trial procedures are broadly in line with the internationally recognised efficacy testing guidelines (European Commission, EPPO, TNsG) or other protocols.

Studies are conducted in diverse habitats (like farms, warehouses, sewer systems).

Target species in field trials are the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus), house mouse (Mus musculus) or roof rat (Rattus rattus).

Depending on product and active ingredient, field trials are conducted in anticoagulant susceptible populations or with anticoagulant-tolerant strains with certain genetic markers, like the Westphalian resistant rat strain carrying the Tyr139Cys of the VKORC1 gene.
